A plain cylinder of clear glass around an exposed bulb, hung close to the ceiling from a small round canopy. It is the ceiling light equivalent of a good white shirt: simple, well made, and right in almost every room.

The Semi Flush Light for Low Ceilings

Where a pendant would hang in the way, a semi flush fitting keeps the light up and the headroom clear, and this one does it without looking utilitarian. The glass is completely clear, so the bulb becomes the feature: a large filament globe glows inside the cylinder like something in a display case. At 15cm wide and 23cm tall it suits hallways, landings, bathrooms, small bedrooms, kitchens and cloakrooms, and looks best in a line of two or three down a corridor. Match the canopy to the room: brushed brass for warm cream and timber interiors, silver for white rooms and chrome fittings, dark bronze for period homes and deep paint colours.
