Description

The table lamp that started it all: an opal glass dome on a clear glass column, standing on a clear glass disc, with chrome fittings and a pull cord. It was drawn in the Bauhaus workshop in 1924 and it is still the clearest statement of the school's idea, that a lamp is a shade, a stem and a foot. Lit, the dome glows white and the glass stem carries a thread of light down to the base.

The 1924 Shape, in Glass and Chrome

The dome is 18cm across and the lamp stands 36cm tall, the size of the original. The column and the base are clear glass, so the lamp takes almost no visual space on a desk or a console, and the chrome fittings catch the light. It takes one E27 bulb and switches from a pull cord under the shade. It comes with a UK plug.
