Bauhaus Coloured Glass Pendant Light Orsella

A flat disc of ribbed coloured glass, a short glass cylinder above it and a frosted globe below. Three plain shapes in two colours, which is the whole idea of Bauhaus lighting: nothing on the lamp that does not do a job. Switched on, the disc glows at the edge and the globe spreads a soft light downwards.

Form Follows Function, in Coloured Glass

The ribbed disc is 25cm across, which is the right size to hang in a row of two or three over a kitchen island or on its own above a small dining table. The bulb sits inside the globe, so the light is diffused and there is no glare from below. The cord is 150cm long and is shortened at installation, on a 10cm ceiling cup. Each colourway pairs a different glass for the cylinder and the disc, so two lamps of the same model can be mixed on one island. It takes one E27 bulb, mains wired.
